Energy & Performance Assessments

What are Energy and performance assessments? Energy and performance assessments provide clear actionable insights about energy loss, single system cost improvements and reliability improvements.

Understanding and working towards effective energy performance improvements is an integral part of achieving ISO 50001 compliance.

Energy loss surveys give clients clear actionable information on what to carry out in order to remove waste and drive improvements. With a critical focus on emissions and sustainability engagement along with payback expectations, our consultant engineers are highly trained and certified in the use of a broad range of survey equipment.

Our Solution

AVT Reliability BV (formerly Van Geffen Reliability) provide a range of services that help clients reduce energy consumption around their sites, these include:

  • Compressed Air consumption
  • Assessment of motor performance
  • Review steam use and loss
  • Assessment of pump performance and suitability

Our Energy Management consultants work to help customer achieve ISO-50001, improve single system costs or improve reliability. With a particular focus on reducing emissions within specific industrial areas:

  • Steam
  • Air
  • Pumping systems
  • Electrical motors

Steam Assessment

As part of our Maintenance Assessment Program (MAP) framework , our steam assessments utilise thermography and ultrasound technology to focus on known problem areas such as valves, traps, piping and insulation.

Our consultants will inspect, identify and determine actions to be taken on each site survey ensuring each area of the system is suitably reported and trended. Our aim for a Steam Assessment is to ensure your plant reduces energy losses, improvement in availability and reliability, steam performance and plant emissions.

Pump Assessment

As part of our MAP framework, a pump assessment can be extremely helpful in fully understanding where simple system improvements can be made or for gaining insights in to unreliable bad actors.

A simple pump assessment allows clients to determine areas to improve such as, current energy consumption, improve system efficiency, pump unreliability or critical spares assessments, at the same time, our team will carry out a health check on key critical components such as pump and sealing systems components.

Air Assessment

Compressed air leak detection surveys are carried out whilst plant and equipment remain operational. Taking equipment offline is not necessary and surveys can be carried out across a large area of plant in a single day.

In a world with increasing energy costs and an increasing focus on environmental sustainability, compressed air is extremely expensive to generate. We still find however that many sites operate with leakage rates of greater than 50% of total system loading. Our trained and highly experienced engineers use ultrasonic hand held mobile devices that allow us to:

  • Locate leaks, even in congested plant rooms.
  • Assess the size of the leak by volume.
  • Calculate the cost per annum of each individual leak.
  • Photograph and identify (tag) each individual leak.
  • Raise an action for recommended repair and priority.
  • Produce a comprehensive report that details each leak, its location, the cost of the leak and the nature of the leak.

These surveys can also be used to locate vacuum leaks and leaks from your gas systems (e.g. Nitrogen, Oxygen & Argon).
We also offer Optical Gas Imaging services to locate hydrocarbon leaks.

Industries & applications

Our engineers are experienced in carrying out energy & performance assessments across all industry sectors including upstream and downstream Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Paper, Chemicals, Marine and Power, with a strong focus on compressor and pumping systems.
