Vibration Analysis

Vibration measurements provide information about the condition of new, existing or overhauled machinery and rotating constructions.

Vibration analysis is the assessment of various graphical displays of vibration data with the aim to identify the cause or problem. This analysis is generally seen as one of the most effective ways to detect malfunctions in rotating equipment. A large variety of different machinery malfunctions can be detected on all types of rotating equipment, making our vibration analysis service one of the most effective kinds of predictive maintenance.

Our Vibration Analysis Solution

Vibration measurements are ideal for troubleshooting sudden problems, assessing single measurement points or forming part of a periodic condition monitoring program for machinery assets.

During a vibration survey, an accelerometer or equivalent vibration transducer is placed at several locations on the machine, usually close to the bearings. Vibration and rotational speed parameters are measured while the machine continues to run under normal operating conditions.

Once reliable data is collected, the specialist work begins. Interpreting vibration signatures, identifying defect causes and providing actionable recommendations require deep training, experience and technical skill. At AVT Reliability BV, formerly Van Geffen Reliability, our engineers bring decades of real-world expertise to every analysis, enabling quick, accurate and trusted diagnostics.

Vibration analysis is the most widely used condition monitoring technique in industry and allows maintenance teams to intervene before a failure stops production. Our vibration analysis services can be used for multiple purposes:

  • Condition Monitoring
  • Health Check inspections
  • Pre-Docking inspections
  • Pre-Shut down inspections
  • Troubleshooting
  • FAT, Factory Acceptance Testing
  • SAT, Site or Sea Acceptance Testing
  • HAR, Harbour Acceptance Testing
  • Witness Testing

Offering

Analysing and interpreting vibration data requires specialist knowledge. It demands an understanding of machine construction and behaviour as well as the experience to relate vibration patterns to real equipment conditions.

Years of experience and advanced qualification in vibration analysis up to ISO 18436-2 Level III make AVT Reliability the ideal partner for performing reliable and accurate vibration analyses.

Vibration Measurement Methods

Methods of Vibration Measurement

(Semi) Continuous

Data is continuously generated by the monitoring system and can be read locally or remotely. AVT Reliability analyses this data at agreed intervals or when deviations occur.

Periodic

Data acquisition takes place at fixed intervals using portable systems. Data can be analysed locally or remotely by AVT Reliability.

Remote

Vibration data is collected via the AVT Reliability cloud and analysed remotely by our specialists.

Whether continuous, periodic or remote measurements are required, the physical acquisition of data can be partly performed by the end user. Where no vibration monitoring system is present, AVT Reliability can supply 2 and 4 channel data collectors as well as advanced multi-channel systems with 8, 24 or 32 channels for periodic, temporary or permanent measurements.

Industries and applications

We can perform vibration analysis anytime and anywhere. Our service is brand independent, which means our specialists work with all vibration monitoring systems, machines and equipment. We specialise in performing and analysing vibration measurements for industrial rotating and reciprocating machinery as well as static equipment.
