Each course takes place over 3 days, and there is a 1 day update training course. These courses are all designed to be interactive so must be attended in person either onsite or at the trainer facilities.



Lubrication Courses

There are 3 levels of lubrication analysis training that can be taken with AVT Reliability BV (formerly Van Geffen Reliability). These courses, taught through CBM Academy, provide different levels of content dependent on prior knowledge and experience.

From refresher training through to management-level programme design, our courses build the practical capability needed to improve reliability through effective lubrication management and oil analysis.

Lubrication Update Training
Duration: 1 day
Best for: Refresher and updates

A refresher course for those who already have knowledge and experience of lubrication and oil analysis and management as part of a maintenance plan.

This 1 day course provides an overview of lubrication, briefly covering basic maintenance strategies and the importance of lubrication. It reviews advances in lubrication theory, lubricants and oils, and provides an update on current testing techniques, lubrication condition control and lubrication standards.

Designed to be interactive so participants return to site more confident, with clear best practices to advance lubrication management in their own machine environment.

Lubrication Analysis Category
Duration: 3 days
Best for: Fundamentals and application

Understanding lubrication and oil analysis is an extremely important part of any preventive maintenance or condition monitoring programme.

This 3 day course covers the basics of lubrication theory and explains how to select the right lubricants for different applications, plus how oils should be stored and managed. It introduces lubrication control and health monitoring, showing how oil analysis improves reliability and supports optimum performance.

Training includes real-life examples and case studies, encouraging participation through questions and discussion.

Lubrication Analysis Category II
Duration: 3 days
Best for: Improving strategies and control

Category II aims to help companies improve reliability by understanding lubrication, oil analysis and contamination control, and the best ways to manage these effectively.

This interactive class uses case studies and discussion. Attendees strengthen fundamentals while learning how to improve current oil analysis strategies, set quality goals, and reduce environmental impact.

Topics include lubricant roles and functions, oil sampling, contamination measurement and control, and oil analysis maintenance strategies.

Lubrication Analysis Category III
Duration: 3 days
Best for: Management-level programme design

Aimed towards management level, Category III covers advanced lubrication analysis and diagnostics with the goal of enabling attendees to design and manage best practice lubrication management.

The course goes in depth into lubrication and oil analysis principles, plus fundamentals of machine wear. It explores wear debris analysis and lubrication degradation, and how these mechanisms influence performance and reliability.

A key component is participation in discussions to assess worked examples and develop strategies for best outcomes, building confidence to implement and manage suitable lubricant analysis programmes on site.

Lubrication Update Training
Duration: 1 day

Refresher course for experienced participants, covering updates in lubrication theory, oils and lubricants, testing techniques, condition control and lubrication standards, delivered in an interactive format.

Lubrication Analysis Category
Duration: 3 days

Covers lubrication theory fundamentals, lubricant selection, storage and management, and introduces lubrication control and health monitoring, showing how oil analysis improves reliability, supported by case studies and discussion.

Lubrication Analysis Category II
Duration: 3 days

Interactive course focusing on improving oil analysis strategies and contamination control, setting quality goals, and reducing environmental impact. Covers lubricant function, sampling, contamination measurement and maintenance strategies.

Lubrication Analysis Category III
Duration: 3 days

Management-level course covering advanced diagnostics, wear fundamentals, wear debris analysis and lubrication degradation, with worked examples and discussion to build confidence in designing and managing best practice lubrication programmes.
