Reliability Performance Model

AVT Reliability BV (formerly Van Geffen Reliability) has a well-established Reliability Performance Model (RPM) which ensures standards are met across all assets and sites.

Asset reliability is vital for optimum performance and requires a well-managed plan to reduce and prevent unforeseen breakdowns and recurring problems with critical machinery.

At AVT Reliability, we understand that asset reliability is essential across all industries to achieve optimal production with minimal downtime. We also recognise that building a successful reliability programme can feel daunting and time-consuming without a clear framework and experienced support.

Asset reliability is vital for optimum performance and requires a well-managed plan to reduce and prevent unforeseen breakdowns and recurring problems with critical machinery.

AVT Reliability supports organisations in building effective reliability programmes, helping achieve optimal production with minimal downtime, using a clear framework and experienced guidance.

Our Solution

As experts in asset management, AVT Reliability has developed the Reliability Performance Model (RPM).
This structured framework is used within our services to help clients design, implement, and mature their own asset management plans.

Having reliability standards alone is not sufficient. To be effective, these standards must be implemented, embedded, and sustained, particularly for organisations working towards ISO 55000 Asset Management certification.

The Reliability Performance Model provides a strong and scalable foundation for any industrial asset management initiative, while remaining flexible enough to adapt to the specific needs of individual companies, sites, and teams.

RPM structure

The RPM framework follows a maturity pyramid with four defined levels. Each organisation can
enter the model at the level that best reflects its current maintenance and reliability maturity.

Progression through the model is structured, measurable, and aligned with long-term business
objectives rather than short-term fixes.

The RPM is built around five key areas, incorporating a total of 28 asset reliability standards that together form a complete, practical reliability framework.

Our Solution

AVT Reliability has developed the Reliability Performance Model (RPM) to help organisations build, implement, and mature effective asset management programmes.

RPM structure

The model follows a four-level maturity pyramid, allowing each organisation to start at the level that reflects its current reliability and maintenance capability.

The RPM is built around five key areas and 28 asset reliability standards, forming a practical and scalable framework.

RPM framework

The 5 key areas

Area 1
Organisation and culture

Each standard and tool set is based on a gap analysis and a subsequent improvement plan tailored to the individual client, taking into account budget and practical constraints.

Area 2
Asset strategy

A reliability performance plan is created to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all assets.

Area 3
Optimisation

Through a strong asset strategy, maintenance and monitoring processes are made practical and measurable, enabling optimisation of plant performance and outcomes.

Area 4
Processes and procedures

Suitable procedures are implemented and processes improved to enhance the overall maintenance strategy and strengthen consistency across teams.

Area 5
Management

New and improved practices are put into effect and the asset management philosophy is maintained to ensure benefits are sustained and results achieved.

How we support your RPM

AVT Reliability provides multiple options to support the development of a reliability performance model. Our consultants can deliver a focused on-site gap analysis or a full site assessment with audited standards and documented evidence of current practices.

Using benchmarking against best practice and the RPM framework, we work as a consultancy partner to identify where reliability improvement opportunities exist within your business, and to define practical next steps.
