Pipework & Anti vibration products

Our pipework and anti-vibration products can reduce piping fatigue risk at your facility.

Benefit from our engineers field experience, flexibility, problem solving experience and from a comprehensive range of proven solutions for all common pipework vibration problems.

Most piping systems require a flexible design to allow for thermal growth and shrinkage during temperature changes. Without it, piping can experience high static stresses creating many problems including low-cycle fatigue, excessive equipment nozzle loads, machinery casing distortion and excessive support structure loads. Designing for flexibility can often conflict with vibration design requirements for stiffness and rigidity.

AVT Reliability BV (formerly Van Geffen Reliability) has developed a range of unique products, to reduce piping fatigue risk in your facility but every situation is unique and requires thorough preliminary research to ultimately arrive at the best decisions. In some cases source approach is possible, for example by reducing or isolating impulse/excitation forces. In other cases, this approach is not sufficient or is only partially. To be able to offer a suitable solution in every situation, we have a range of anti-vibration products at our disposal.

Visco-Elastic Dampers

Visco-Elastic Dampers provide a resisting force proportional to the speed of movement in main-line pipework. They are an alternative solution to fixed pipe support systems for reducing vibrations and thus pipework fatigue.

Applications

The applications of our products can often be found in pipework system, including Small Bore Connections (SBC), which have their applications in many industries.

In addition, we see that a product such as a tuned mass damper (TMD) is also applied to vertically positioned drives. Large cooling water pumps in power stations, bow thrusters on board ships, or drives for mixer installations are often characterised by increased vibration levels at the height of the E-motor NDE in the radial direction. Depending on the impact forces and the underlying foundation, such vibrations can sometimes rise to high or even extremely high vibration levels. A properly engineered and positioned tuned mass damper can be an extremely powerful tool for reducing such vibration problems.
