Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology enables the non-destructive, non-intrusive testing of asset condition in various applications.

Ultrasound can detect certain mechanical and electrical faults by sensing subtle changes in ultrasonic amplitude, ultrasound is excellent for finding early stage premature bearing faults.

Ultrasound as a Diagnostic Tool

As technology and equipment become increasingly affordable, ultrasound has become a highly effective tool within a wider condition monitoring suite. It enables early assessment of asset health by detecting faults long before they become audible or visible through other techniques.

To ensure accuracy and reliable insights, it is essential that ultrasound surveys are performed by trained engineers who are not only certified in ultrasound techniques but also possess practical experience across a wide range of asset types.

Our Solutions

All our service engineers are qualified to Ultrasound Level 1 as a minimum and are supported by Level 2 technical authorities within the AVT Reliability group. We have been delivering ultrasound services for more than 25 years, beginning with leak detection and evolving into a comprehensive suite of diagnostic applications across multiple asset types.

Offering

Machine ultrasound services carried out by experienced, dedicated engineers with 24/7 service availability.
Valve, steam trap and air/gas system inspections are frequently performed around large-scale shutdowns when
piping is open and ultrasonic testing can be deployed quickly and effectively to detect leaks before restarting operations.

Rotating Equipment

Ultrasound detects mechanical faults, lubrication issues and supports vibration analysis, even on very low-speed assets below 1 RPM.

Electrical Systems

Electrical assets suffer from partial discharge and tracking. Ultrasound provides non-intrusive identification of early or advanced electrical failures in transformers, insulators and switchgear.

Valves & Steam Traps

Non-invasive ultrasonic inspection ensures safe and efficient operation of steam and condensate systems. Detect failures early and prevent costly energy loss or safety risks.

Air & Gas Systems

Ultrasound identifies air, gas and vacuum leaks quickly, helping to reduce energy losses that can account for up to 30 percent of wasted power in some facilities.
